Rain washes out second straight day of Bangladesh - West Indies Test

Rain continued to play spoilsport at Chittagong for the second straight day as not a ball was bowled when stumps were called early in the morning on Day 3 of the first cricket test between Bangladesh and the West Indies. Bangladesh made good of the conditions on offer on the first day to post 255/4. Mushfiqur Rahim and Naeem Islam are the two overnight batsmen who continue to wait to resume their innings at 68 and 8 respectively. With a maximum of two days of play left in this match it is looking increasingly unlikely that a result could be forced, but given West Indies' penchant for a collapse or two, a result could still be forced.
Story so far...
All the batsmen that have been dismissed thus far had managed to play themselves in, suggesting that there are no real demons in this pitch. Shahriar Nafees looked good during his cameo of 21, but had to walk back to the dressing room retired hurt after being felled by a quick bouncer from Fidel Edwards. Run making through had proved a challenge on the opening day with only 36% of the runs scored via boundaries. With the outfield having soaked up so much water over the last couple of days, this is unlikely to change.
The West Indies bowlers couldn’t really trouble the Bangladeshi batsmen as much as they would have liked, apart from the timely bounce & the reverse swing towards the end generated by Fidel Edwards. Also, the effort of Ravi Rampaul, who rarely disappoints, was treated with respect by the batsmen. The Bangladeshis proved to be their own enemy at times as their batsmen got out playing unnecessary shots. Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, both had their command over the WI bowlers, but threw their wickets away. Tamim fell for 52, while Shakib made 40.
New skipper Mushfiqur showed some character as he did not get carried away and kept taking the singles on offer.
