Death toll of Afghan fuel truck soars to 6, wounded 50

KABUL, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of those killed in the fuel truck blast has reached six and 50 others sustained injuries, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here Wednesday.
"A magnet bomb planted by enemies on an oil tanker in Parwan province went off at 07:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bagram district as a result six people were killed and 50 others sustained injuries," the statement confirmed.
Five cars and five motorbikes were also burned during the blast, it further said.
Bagram, 50 km north of Afghan capital kabul is the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan.
All the victims, according to locals are civilians from the villages around.
Earlier, spokesman for Parwan provincial administration Birishna Khalid said that the explosive device, stuck on the side of the oil tanker after explosion created a hole enabling the fuel to flow, adding when the villagers gathered around to collect pooling fuel suddenly a bigger explosion happened leaving five people dead and injured over 30 others.
